How to deal with Vista

How to you handle the biggest pile of horse crap ever devised? Two years they developed this piece of shit, kind of sounded like they rushed it.

Well, first off, NEW COMPUTERS. There are some really swell deals out there: some 500 dollar laptops. Be careful that you do not get a Celeron. Now companies like Dell offer Windows XP as an alternative: But not all computer makers are doing this.

Windows Vista requires huge amounts of processor power and ram and even a 256MB Video Card is not enough to propel this overbloated piece of shit.

They say that Vista Home Basic can run on 512 MB Ram. And maybe I can install MacOSX Tiger onto an LC-II. And maybe my cat will sprout wings and chase bats.

I have installed Vista UE into a system with 2 GB of 400 MHz Ram, FSB is 800 MHz, 256 MB Agp card. Vista does not like AGP, it bottlenecks the whole system.

The entire explorer subsystem, resembles the Finder in MACOS now. It actually acts like the MACOS Finder. With one exception, the MACOS Finder, Finds things, but the new Microsoft Search, which is designed to include Windows new bullshit "Live" - Simply will not locate any file typed on the search bar.

More about this "Windows Live" thing bothers me. I have already removed Windows Live Desktop, which is similar to the Gadgets in MACOS. When activated, it blanks out the rest of the OS. Apparently, the intention of Microsoft is to eventually run ALL programs "Live" - And the home PC will be nothing but an Appliance, depending on 1) Internet connectivity and 2) Status of MS Live Servers for reliability and functionality.

Well I say, No- I do not wish to run an Appliance. I wish to have the programs I need residing on my computer and I want full access to my File System. And in Vista, even the EVENT VIEWER depends on a whole new service and so the logs cannot be viewed by the same conventional means that the Windows XP event logs can be viewed (As Comma Separate Values).

It has been since March? That this utter piece of trash has been foisted on us. The price of CPUS and RAM and Hard Drives have not gone down that much. Hardware that was acceptable has now been made obsolete. And how long until I have to have a 1 Terabyte HD just to run my OS?

I think not- And I thank groups like "Extreem" who released the Vista Extreem Edition, which has stripped all garbage out of Vista and leaves us with a bare OS. I also thank Paradox and others for their clever cracks... My Vista is STILL running, and is still activated and genuine.

If a Service lack is forthcoming, it ought to be a service pack that removes unwanted bloat from the OS.

The shit of it is, I would be happy to use vista, even BUY it, it it were smaller, cheaper, if Ultimate Edition did not cost 400 bucks, if it ran on my Pentium III's and IVs and Athlon K7's and K8's.

So, I openly encourage anyone who gets hold of Vista and wants to load it, here is what you do:

Go to PirateBay and download any version of the Vista DVD- They are all the same. Then download any of seven or eight activation and WGA cracks that are available. The best cracks are the ones that use the Vista WGA system on itself.

Until Microsoft makes reasonable operating Systems, they will get NO money from me.

I'll pay full retail price for either XP MCE 2005 or XP Pro SP2. I encourage people to do so, I think XP is a fine OS, despite some of the problems I have had with it. I have used it from the start, and the longest I had an XP installation stay good was about a year and a half, before I got infected with a virus that deleted system files.

But I will spend NO money on Vista. I will go out of my way to delete it, until people understand just how bad it is on so many levels.

How do you deal with Vista?

Install it. When asked which version you are installing, choose Ultimate Edition. enter a BLANK for a product ID. The OS will install and you will have 30 days trial.

First thing you do is deal with all of the nagging. Turn OFF User Account Control. Turn off SECURITY ALERTS, this you have to do in the control panel somewhere, it seems to me the location changes each time I do it. SHUT OFF the Security Center Service: By RIGHT CLICKING on My Computer, choose MANAGE, and go to the Services, this is just like doing it in XP, disable it, do not disable it until you have shut off Security Alerts.

The main problem with XP, and with Vista, are that these so-called security features are turned ON by default. What Microsoft ought to do is create a splash screen at first boot so that the user can choose if he wants these things enabled. There ought also to be a security control panel that allows full access to all of these functions from one spot.

You can either use the 30 days trial and download all of the updates you want... Avoid all Security updates. Never allow Automatic Updates, do it manually, and check each update download, and you can actually hide the ones you do not wish to install.
